Hey everyone
New member here
Last night our 1.5 year d suffered a seizure she was lying relaxed in the couch and her head went back towards her tail she began to shake and foam at the mouth and then whimper .
She then peed and pooed herself when she snapped out of it .
It lasted maybe 40 seconds .

Has anyone had any dealings with this that can give us advice ?
Vet said to keep an eye on her the next few days it could be isolated due to the weather make sure she’s driving enough etc .

I have a little girl at home and I’m worried about how to deal with this as luckily she was in bed when it happened ,

Our pup also snapped at me when I tried to comfort her , she didn’t try to bite but barked a warning bark for sure is this normal as people say to comfort them but she wouldn’t let me

So sorry this has happened to your baby.... search this site, there is TONS of seizure information over the years from Cheryl (libra926) related to Vegas and Jeannie (JeannieCO) related to Emma

Our female bullie (Ruby Sue), started having seizures at about 5 months of age (she’s almost 2 now). As was already mentioned, there’s tons of info on dogs with seizures, and we’ve learned a good bit through this forum as well as contacting bulldog breeders around the country.
Although we cannot confirm through any blood work etc, I think that the use of Bravecto may have triggered the initial seizures (lots of info about Bravecto, side effects, etc online….many complaints filed with the government regarding heartworm/ flea prevention meds- you can find this info easily)
After working on different treatment options (after extensive blood tests), we’ve been successful using two meds to control the seizures ; our vet started treatment with Keppra (sp?), one time release tab per day. It worked well for a few weeks, but the seizures became more and more frequent. We then switched to a small dosage of phenobarbital, which is commonly used for seizures, and the seizures stopped! I mean stopped altogether.
Our vet advised that, although the phenobarbital worked well, we should not be surprised if Ruby still had a seizure from time to time.
Ruby has had only one seizure since being on the phenobarbital, and the vet suggested we try adding a small dose of the Keppra….she has not had any seizures since being on the combo of drugs.
I was ( and still am) concerned about potential side effects of being on the drugs, but have been pleasantly surprised that she shows no side effects at all. Her quality of life is great, and she’s a healthy, playful and ā€œclownishā€ as most bullies are!
We are constantly monitoring the situation, but thus far we are thankful the folks on this forum, as well as many others around the country who’ve helped us through this very scary situation….we’ve had 6 other bullldogs prior to this little female and none of them had seizures (it can be common in other breeds but very very rare in bullies)
